Anthony began in Jobs 4 Locals with no prior experience in mining but was quickly able to learn the necessary skill and knowledge needed for a career in the industry. He received personalised coaching to identify his strengths and accredited training to kickstart his career.
The Jobs 4 Locals and Fit 4 Work programs opened up a range of valuable employment opportunities for Anthony, such as gaining certification in safety and machine operating through “Jobs 4 Locals” to health and wellbeing through “Fit 4 Work” that helped him achieve the levels of fitness required to successfully gain employment in the heavy industry sector. He was able to pass all Pre-Employment Medical requirements. Being part of the programs with Career Co, meant Anthony was also connected to job opportunities through Career Co’s Labour Hire Services.
The relationship Anthony built with Career Co through the programs supported him to land a job at Carrapateena mine site as a Utility Worker through their Labour Hire Services. Anthony was a standout at Carrapateena with his outgoing personality and work ethic.
Anthony was successful in gaining employment through his commitment to the programs, his attendance was 100%, backed by his excellent communication skills and working well with others. He quickly built a reputation as a “great worker and valuable team member”.
Anthony advised that he still faces challenges, the knowledge and confidence he gained through training have enabled him to take the next steps in his career and has given him a sense of pride and purpose he never had before.
Anthony recently started a new job as a Haul Truck Operator with Career Co’s labour hire services, hosted to their Client at Peculiar Knob mine site SA.
Anthony is thriving in his new job, using the skills he acquired through the two program’s and can provide a secure and promising future for himself and his family, thanks to the connections and skills he has developed through Jobs 4 Locals and Fit 4 Work
He had never dreamed such a life-changing opportunity and is grateful for the support and guidance he receives from Career Co.
Anthony is grateful to the program for giving him the opportunity to learn and grow professionally.
